Sauerkraut Bend 5K

February 23, 2019

Sign up for the Fun Run through Historic King William and along the San Antonio River.
(You actually don’t even have to run – but still get to go to the party!)

The Sauerkraut Bend 5K River Run presented by Opa’s Smoked Meats is a timed fun run that benefits the King William Association a 501c3 non-profit corporation. The race starts at 9am on February 23rd, 2019.

Participation is capped at 500 runners/sleepers!

The 5K course takes runners on part of the Official King William Parade Route through the Historic King William Neighborhood and on the beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk. MBS Yoga will lead a yoga-inspired stretch before the run.

Don’t want to run it? No problem. Walk it, stroll it, we want everyone to come on down to Southtown. We’ve even got a special “I Slept Like a King” option for those who want in on the fun, but don’t want to run. Maybe you want to say you “slept-in” and still get a runner’s bib (for the nap), and a t-shirt and Fiesta-style participation medal designed by Robert Tatum.

The “Party in the Park” will feature sausage and sauerkraut from our presenting sponsor, Opa’s Smoked Meats, beer from Blue Star Brewing, and an awards ceremony that will crown the very first “King” and “Queen” of the Sauerkraut Bend 5K River Run. All participants, friends, spectators, and interested parties are invited to an after party at the King William Park and Gazebo.

Live Music after the awards ceremony will be by local favorite, Buttercup.

Packet Pick-up is Feb 22nd at The Friendly Spot (943 S. Alamo), from 3 to 7pm, and race day morning from 7am-8:45am at the gazebo.
