The King William Association (KWA) invites art appreciators to the opening of an exhibit by local artist, Jesus Toro Martinez. The walls of the KWA office will display his series of paintings titled “Westi Lost in the Park.” Mr. Martinez was inspired to make a tribute to his friend’s dog, Westi, and to all the doggies that have gone on to heaven. He describes the collection as “Whimsical notes of the dogs that carried on in the park.”
Originally from Laredo, Texas, Toro received a B.F.A. from the San Antonio Art Institute. He went on to get his M.F.A. in The Netherlands. His paintings have been exhibited in San Antonio and Austin as well as venues in Europe and in Mexico City. The exhibit at KWA follows the current collection’s successful showing at the Latino Art Museum in Los Angeles in July, 2016. He is currently working on a sculpture project.
We hope that you will join us for the opening on September 1, or stop in KWA office Mon – Fri 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. through November 30 to see Toro’s art.
